2019 a Year of Practicing Patience
Who would have thought we would be so divided in 2018? Each looking for the flaws of the other and using those flaws to justify hatred. It seems to be a world-wide phenomena, not only in one country or the other. I find myself confused and concerned daily. Confused as to what is the best action I can take, concerned as to how this hatred will finally play out. In our past history hatred only leads one way: to war.
Are we really ready to do battle with on another? Is a belief what we stuff down another's throat really what we are doing? It's a little like being a vegetarian and a group of meat eaters demand that the vegetarian eat meat. Why? What if it were the other way around? The vegetarians demand that meat eaters stop eating meat? What are we trying to prove?
I usually find that it begins with a misunderstanding of a recipe, a news item or even a sacred text and arguments ensue. There is little resolution except separation and protecting one's ideas. What are we arguing about all the time?
I am going to try to breathe more, listen more, offer my compassion in as many ways as possible. This will test me, I know in ways I am not prepared for, but I welcome the growth. Wish me luck.
